Traditional Game: Five Stones

Dear friends

We are from Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School. We enjoy playing games. Each of us has our own favourite game. One of them is Five Stones.

Five stones

Materials used:
cloth bags that are filled with either seeds or sand.

Suggested number of playes: one or more

How it is played:
1. One player to hold all five cloth bags (or called 'five stones') in one hand and scatters them onto the floor. Then he/she picks up one and throws it into the air. While the first stone is thrown into the air, he/she has to pick up up another one and makes sure he/she catches the first one into his/her hand as well.

2. Now that he/she has two stones in his/her hand, he/she has to throw the two into the air while picking up the third one.

3. This goes on until the player has all the stones in his/her hand.

4. If the player fails at another stage, that is another stone drops from his/her hand, the chance is passed to another player.

5. The player who finishes first with all the five stones in his/her hand wins.
